The Betty Noir Comic came about when I was looking for a heroine to put in peril for HIPComix* (*Heroine's in Peril). I settled on a plucky and self-reliant private eye that for some reason always gets captured, has her clothes removed and ends up in some seriously compromising positions. The series started in 2005

Luckily for her (and us) she always manages to escape and come out on top. Every episode ends with her getting hold of a huge amount of cash.

Betty Noir originally got her name from a font name from BlamBot.com There's also an erotic comic called Phoebe Zeit-Geist which has a Betty Noire, who's decribed as a 34-yr old Symbolist poetess and secret Absinthe addict. Although my Betty isn't quite 30 yet she does like drinking, and absinthe is nowhere on the wine list.
